SHELTER ISLAND, NY JUNE 23, 2026 — Inaugural Gallery Exhibition on Shelter Island
C Fine Art Hamptons Sculpture Sights, the East End’s premier outdoor sculpture exhibition series, takes root on Shelter Island for the upcoming season and beyond.
Under the direction of sculpture specialist Cheryl Sokolow, C Fine Art + Advisory—a boutique gallery and advisory practice focused on contemporary outdoor sculpture & dimensional art—will open its new Shelter Island show space with the inaugural exhibition, The Cadence of Form, presented as part of its continued expansion on the East End.
The Cadence of Form explores the language of abstraction at its most essential: form, movement, composition, and material. The exhibition focuses on the immediacy of process and the physical presence of the work itself rather than narrative or symbolic interpretation.
Rhythm emerges as a visual structure: sequences of shapes, layered compositions, and shifting geometries unfold across and beyond space and surface.
Each work selected reflects a distinct creative intention, however, all share a commitment to formal investigation.
"The Cadence of Form examines the visual rhythm that emerges through the act of making," said Cheryl Sokolow, Founder and Director of C Fine Art + Advisory. "While each artist approaches material in a unique way, the exhibition reveals a shared commitment to process, experimentation, and formal investigation. Together, the works create a dialogue that invites viewers to consider how form, movement, and material interact to shape our experience of space."
The diversity of materials including metal, wood, paper, glass, plastics, and clay, dictate both the process and aesthetic characteristics of each piece; their weight, translucency, texture, and resistance inform each gesture, cut, weld, or assembly.
The result is a dynamic interplay between intention and material response where process becomes visibly palpable.
The Cadence of Form presents a cohesive dialogue—one that foregrounds the artistic process and how it resonates through the dynamic orchestration of form providing a meditation on the act of “making” itself—where process, material, and form converge into a continuous visual cadence.
Participating artists include Kevin Barrett, John Van Alstine, Norman Mooney, Bill Barrett, Hans Van de Bovenkamp, Joan Hall, Libby Raab, Mercedes Vicente, Joan Giordano, Rogan Brown, Isobel Folb Sokolow, and John Born.
